    Bore snakes

Just wondering if there is any difference between a .22lr bore snake for rifles and the one for pistols. I have one for my Sig 522, just wondering if I needed a different one for my Ruger MKIII.

    Thanks,

I think there must be, because I just got a single six and could not get it to pull through the cylinder { the last part with the loop}. My bore snake is the old one before they got cheap a** like the one I bought for my .17.

My snake mainly cleans my 10/22 rifle but its cleaned up several handgun barrels too - if it works on the 522 rifle then it should be long enough for any pistol cleaning. good luck & enjoy
      I mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57

Other than the length I don't think there is a difference between the rifle and the pistol version. I use my rifle snake on my pistol and the rifle and works just fine except it's a long pull to get it through my pistol.

I do notice on my .22 guns it's more work to pull through the revolvers but it's much easier on the semi auto and the rifles problably due to the shape of the forcing cone v.s. the tapered, ramped or larger throat on the semi auto and rifles.

The rifle snake should be fine for both. I used to use a rifle bore snake to clean handguns and rifles, but I picked up a handgun one today to keep handy since I'm starting to shoot handguns more and would like an extra for my range bag.

yep, the difference is the length; especially on the pulling cord part...if you own both pistols and rifles, just get the rifle version...but nothing wrong with getting a pistol version too if you want the convenience...

I never even thought to ask that question, but I'm glad you did now that I have two .22 revolvers on the way. Always learning on CG.

I only buy rifle snakes. That way they can do double duty. My 22 snake works on all my rifles and hand guns.

Thanks gang, I guess I just stick with the rifle one I've already got and use it on my MKIII hunter when it gets out of jail this weekend

My boresnake runs through rifles and pistols alike.
