Happy Birthday to me! For my 40ish B-day my lovely bride got me a SIG 522 SWAT special edition! I know I'm a lucky S.O.B. for having such a caring spouse, but hey! this is what working hard at your marriage for 15 years gets you! 
Basics: SIG 522 SWAT is the like the classic version with the addition of aluminum quad-rails. Special edition, because SIG originally sold this rifle as a set with a 556 that had the same numbers. SIG broke up some of the sets and sold them separately. Don't know if it is worth more, but I like the "one in 2000" tag on the side. Like all 522's it didn't come with any sights so I added a Primary Arms M4 red dot.
Whats in the box: The rifle comes in a giant blue case (48 inches!). In addition the the rifle it comes with one 10 round mag, lock, manual, and a plastic bag with a thicker butt pad, and two inserts to change the 3 position stock to only locking in the middle or last positions.
Initial impressions: This gun is gorgeous! It takes "tacti-cool" to a whole new level. It is a substantial rifle, with the heft and weight of a tactical weapon (unlike other polymer-based .22's). If you closed your eyes and picked up the rifle you would not believe it is a .22. Even after you open your eyes, you still won't believe that it is a .22. There is nothing about the appearance that screams "I'm some real gun's little brother!". The controls are identical to the 556 with no "cosmetic" buttons. (Well okay! the gas block adjustment is a pug to a storage compartment).
Take down and cleaning: The gun is packed with a good amount of grease from the factory, so I had to take it apart and clean it before shooting. Take down is simple and easy. Push out the rear pin and the upper flips forward. Push out the second pin in the front the upper completely separates from the lower. Slide the bolt back, wiggle the charge handle off, and the bolt is out. Grab the lower rail, pull back and down, the lower, left and right rails comes off as one unit. Grab the top rail and pull off. The entire rifle is field stripped in about one minute!
*I know there is an earlier thread about the top rails being misaligned on other 522 SWAT's. Yo Sherlock! the top rail is not welded to the barrel! Just yank it off and put it back straight!
