when i was looking into ar15 80% builds. i asked a dealer and he said "make, cal., model and serial # is what you have to put on it once its done." he also said build 80% firearms to keep for urself and not to sell/transfer.

I don't think this is true. It has been discussed here on Calguns a few times. No need to mark a self made 80% lower unless you transfer it. While you can not manufacture one to sell it is not against the law to sell one properly marked. If you dont ever intend to sell no markings are necessary.

I built one.... It was very easy with the jig, but the hard part was drilling the correct bore where the barrel slides into the receiver. I did it with only a drill press, not that I would recommend it , because if I had access to a lathe, I would much rather use that. If i could do it again, I would get the .22 magnum receiver, but set it up as a .17 HMR

Where do you buy the parts to build up the rifle after you machine teh receiver?

Im pretty sure you can use the plethora of 10/22 after-market parts out there for the rest, so pretty well anywhere, Midway USA, Cabellas, your favourite gun store/site etc...

FUD from the dealer. You may not make a firearm (unless licensed) for the purpose of sale, but you may sell a firearm that you have made for your own use at a later time. No State or Federal law requires marking a receiver that you make for your own use, unless at some point in the future you decide to sell it. Then, and only then, you do have to mark it in the same manner as required of a licensed manufacturer.

Hey guys! For those who have the Razor 80% receiver on their 10/22's, would like to sell (or possibly donate ) their drill fixture?! Fellow calgunner here is on tight budget. Pls PM me, thanks!

Let's see roughly $125 for the 80% blank and $25 for the drill fixture or get a 100% complete unit from http://www.nodakspud.com/NDS-22.htm for $130. I fail to see the logic in a 80% Razor.

Not only do you not * need * to mark or engrave your 80% lower, if you DO it has to meet federal standards for depth / size. Just leave it blank.

And the logic behind an 80% razor is the integrated rail... and option for a pistol build.
