Installed Tech-sights on my 10/22

That's all, just sharing. I was surprised by how much force it took to get the factory front sight out. After that, install was a snap.

I've had this 10/22 for a couple years, just casual plinking a handful of times. I had a 9x scope on it but I wanted iron sights for the Appleseed I'm hoping to go to. Last week I installed the Volq$#%$t (however you spell it!) bolt and mag releases and Uncle Mike's studs and swivels. Still waiting for my sling to get here. Can't wait to try it out!

Don't force it get a bigger hammer

Just as a heads up. I also put tech sights on an older 10-22. Yep, it took a bit of force to get that front sight off. When I went to sight in the rifle I found that I had to move the front sight off center to get on target. It turned out that in removing the stock front sight I had rotated the barrel in the receiver. I just removed the barrel and reinstalled and all is well. You will love the sights!

Here are some pics. I love the V_______ bolt release and mag release, but the one thing is the two are really close to each other. It isn't a problem, just a little tight. Certianly less-awkward than the stock setup.

Any advice on using the two-ring rear aperture? Do you flip between them at different ranges? If so, at what range do you switch?

It may be a week before I can try these out!

My brother and I tried the sights out tonight at the local indoor pistol range. Here's a pic of the first target, trying to get used to the sights. Only about 40 feet... but hey, don't judge us! I know some of you can kill an ant at that distance. This target is a good explanation of why I'm trying to make it to an Appleseed!

I had two FTF's. Extracted fine, but didn't load the next round - bolt closed on an empty chamber. So... what do I do about this? I wish it had been FTE because that's a known issue and I would just buy a new extractor and be happy. We were shooting Blazer bulk ammo, which is what I've almost always shot in it. It's had about 500-600 rounds total, maybe 100 or a bit more tonight.

Oh, and most importantly... had a blast!
