rebate on their entry level .22 is to get you hooked on in the game...then maybe you trade up for a better quality rifle, like the 925...it's all about marketing...

this is so sick, I turn 20 in April and this is exactly what I was going to get, do I need to order it from Marlin for this to work or will it work if I buy it through Big 5?

You can just buy it at Big 5. You send in your original receipt and the additional info listed on the rebate sheet. It's actually on sale right now.

edit: The ONLY thing I don't like about these Marlins is the expensive factory mags. $28 dollars on Midway as of right now.

I just got the factory Marlin Mag from Big 5 2 weeks ago when they had the 20% of non-sales item coupon. It came out to about $15 OTD. They email it out every once in a while...the one they sent out early last year did not specify no ammo or firearms (that is when I got my 795 plus the rebate). The new ones does specify no firearms and ammo but mags seem to be ok.

Ah, the 925, one MOA w/ subsonic ammo out of the box at 100 yards, if the trigger pull is tolerable.

The nice thing about Marlin 22s is that they are full-featured out of the box.
                  -Usable iron sights
-Sling swivels even on take-down 70PSS model
                  -Last shot bolt hold open

All of which I had to pay extra to get on the other popular major make's .22LR carbine.

The ONLY thing I don't like about these Marlins is the expensive factory mags. $28 dollars on Midway as of right now.
                  $12 - $14 is the market price.

Obviously, you are a "glass half-full" kind of guy.
