    Ruger MKII or MKIII

Any ideas on where to find used ones in the LA area? I've noticed the ones listed on calgunners last less than 20mins before someone "takes" it.

If I have to buy new one, suggestions on who has the best prices?

I'm liking the hunter and other longer barreled stainless ones.

    thanks

Try gunbroker. There are plenty listed there, and the prices are usually better than most brick and mortar stores.

Bud's Gun Shop does excellent service, WILL ship to CA, and usually has a great selection at great prices. Biggest problem is finding somebody who will recieve for less than 3 figures. I use Bullseye Sporting Goods in Long Beach; ONLY problem with them is that they are only open for 4 hours each Saturday (and NO hours any other day). They have the lowest receiving charge I've found: $65 including DROS. When you take out the $25 DROS fee (which you always have to pay anyway) about the same as the CA sales tax you would spend if you bought the gun thru a local brick and mortar instead of off the internet. You have to be careful about shipping costs, tho. My last couple of guns from Bud's have been free shipping.

There's one listed one Turner's consignment list forever for $499

If in excellent condition, would be cheaper than going to an out-of-state transfer.

Turners had several in the West Covina and San Bernardino stores. Reasonably priced.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up getting a pretty good deal with a FFL from Calguns out in Oak Hills on a MKIII hunter.
