    My first rifle!

Turner's has a few different 10/22s on sale (tactical, blued and stainless). Decided to get the stainless as it was the best bang for the buck (pun intended).

My Mossberg 500 has been lonely, but the MAN says I have to wait 10 days for the 10/22 :-\

Before some says "pics?", this is the usual 10/22 with a synth stock. But I'll be more than happy to post pics 2/24.

Is it recommended to clean the 10/22 when I get it?

    Tia!

it's not just any 10/22, it's your 10/22, treat it well and it will treat you well,

congrrats, it is one of the greatest guns ever made

first time you strip the action, have someone help you, they can be a real PITA to get back together

brush and jag/patch the bore with CLP
clean the rest with tooth brush and CLP and a towel, careful not to scratch the barrel when you remove the barrel band up front, wear eye protection, the recoil spring can go flying when you pull the bolt

there are other more stringent cleaning regiments, but mine is fully serviceable

Try boresnakes. One swipe of the bore the bore should be clean as a whistle. Also no rods entering the muzzle.

I had my son take a NRA basic rifle class at Oaktree Gun Club. It consisted of two hours of class time and two hours of range time. Well worth the time and the $75.00 for the class.

Congrats on your new .22! I picked up one a few months ago. After a scope, hogue stock, bi-pod, sling, TS mag release and some butler-creek steel-lips mags, it doesn't even look the same (lol). One of the best investments I've ever made. ENJOY!!

sweeeeet. another 10/22 owner added to the ranks. 10/22's are a piece of cake to disassemble, just go slow the first time and pay attention to how things move together to work. It will make sense

Congrats man, I just got home from turners.. I bought the wood stocked one with the blued barrel for $199, what a deal!! I heard about appleseed and got all excited then heard you need 400+ rounds for the weekend. This immediatly ruled out my .223 AR:-( but it gave me an excuse to buy the Ruger and like you when I have kids this'll be the one they learn on. Have fun!
