The rifle in question may be an early model like the one I have. I can't remember what I paid for it at my local Turner's but the $250 mark sounds more like it. The 17HMR is a tack driver and is good for an easy 100-150 yards of pest control but be aware that the ammo is ridulously expensive. It is most superior to the 22 magnum in the same distance.

Newer models can be had in a nice heavy barrel version and looks fantastic especially in the stainless steel garb. Mine is only blue steel with a conventional trigger but it'll put the pest down if you do your part.

If your really interested give it a good looking over and make sure the crown isn't dinged!!! Use a magnifying glass if necessary. If it is I'd pass it up and pay a little more and get a new one with a super nice varible scope.
