Ruger 10/22 VS. S&W M&P 15-22.

Well with the Ruger you could customize it more & make it a tack driver. You would be able to throw on a new barrel, smooth out the trigger with aftermarket parts, and if you ever change your mind and want to turn it into a bench rifle you could just drop in a new laminate wood stock. As for looks (in my own opinion) the S&W wins because it just flat out looks Tacti-cool especially with a Eo Tech. Good luck with your choice.Originally posted by Lead WasterLook, that bum on the corner needs to get his booze money somehow. new mossberg
For $230 plus taxes that new Mossberg looks pretty competitive to these two....I have yet to read any reviews on one but several shops listed above have them listed at 229 to 269.

hey bro just saying if you like a reliable gun go with the 10-22 and if you want it to look tacticool add a archangel stock or nordic componets. I was going to get the colt but saved money and bought ammo over 100 dollars for 22lr. 10-22 is the way to go. in my opinon the sr-22 is a wast of moneyComment

I have the 15 22 and love it completely! No problems, no regrets and if you got the money for it I highly suggest it. Mine has a 3-9x40 scope and im deadly at 100 yrds. Oh and lets not talk about the looks that thing gets, from holy sh*t nice AR to wait it only shoots .22s I thought it was a .223. Lets face it the 10 22 is very bland and will take a lot of money to build up. IMO 10 22 is a great rifle but, 15 22 is better.A woman who demands further gun control legislation is like a chicken who roots for Colonel Sanders.Originally posted by wildhawkerWe're going to beat the AW and hicap mag bans also.

I dont think its fair to compare 2 rifles that only share 1 common factor. Theyre both 22's. I have both and they each have there strong points. But I would rather have a 15/22 than a T6 or archangle or nordic. The smith looks and handles like the real deal.Comment

My solution: one of each, working on two of each. They are totally different rifles, both are great.LASD Retired

All good replies. IMO the Tapco's just feel cheap. Personally I like the 15/22 as it feels more like an AR than any of the others. But if you really want an AR in 22, that can be had as well.
The biggest reason for one of these 10/22 tactical rifles is pre-ban mags if you ask me. If you don't have any pre-ban mags, then I prefer the 15/22 or a real AR.Chris

it's mostly if you want a system such as the 15-22 that functions internally (trigger group) and externally (controls, bolt, etc.) like an AR-type rifle or the absolutely ridiculous variety of aftermarket parts available for the 10/22.
it also depends if you think you'd enjoy modifying the rifle inside and out (10/22) vs. spending most of your money on things to hang outside on the 3+ miles of picatinny rail space (15-22).

10/22 all the way. years of reliability. They are very simple and reliable. Get a EEE or similar and it'll eat any cheap ammo you can find like m and msComment

considering the cost factor for a dedicated .22LR upper, the M&P 15-22 isn't that much more... and it's purpose-built for .22LR.
plus then you'd have two complete rifles when/if you build that full-sized AR! you can never have enough.
