I'm planning to go to Appleseed with my 10/22. I need a new stock. I wanted a Hogue but heard it flexes and the grouping shifts when a sling is used. What stock can you guys recommend that won't flex and throw off my group?

I've got a factory synthetic I'm not using.
I haven't heard that about the Hogue. I want one for my next possible build. Try the Tapco, I just built mine with it and love it.NRA Level 1 Pistol Coach - VentureCrew SASP Coach

I've heard good things about the Fajen stock but it is channelled for the .920 barrel.
Bell and Carlson also makes a classic styled stock that will allow you to use TechSights instead of optics. Good luck and have fun.Comment

As for the Hogue flexing...my sister and her son both scored Rifleman in the same weekend with mine.
Can't be too bad as both had limited shooting experience, but took the training offered to heart. The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

I have a hogue overmols and a ati dragonov style, and I like em both. The hogue is best for bench shooting, and the ati is great for shooting critters and plinking.Comment

I didn't think much of the hogue....until I held one on a rifle...I bought one from Cabelas...now I cant see putting anything else on except maybe a mcmillan. But I mostly hunt with mine...it also likes paper punching. I have a sling and use it to steady my aim. I also have a .920 Volquartsen barrel on it, so the heavy barrel may not be that effected by the pull of the sling. The hogue is very comfortable and it is an adult sized stock versus the tiny factory stock.Comment

I bet thats a heavy 10/22 to lug around. I'd probably hunt with it too though. I bought mine used and it came with a bipod. That sucker is heavy for a 10/22 lol. The hogue overmold stock is a heavy s.o.b. throw in a .920 and you got an anchor. My Hogue OM and TS .920" bbl combo is so light it's hard to hold steady somtimes.
Don't know where you come up with "heavy".The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

I'll weigh my 10/22 and snap a pic this weekend...I don't think of it as heavy...but its not as light as it was from the factory for sure. Every one should own a 10/22. I bought a 17 mach2 barrel from Eabco with the heavy handle a few years ago...very versatile plinker and small game zapper.Comment
