All fun & games until its time to assemble.

I have spent the last 4 hours trying to reassemble my Ruger Mark III and still no luck. Im beyond pi$$ed and my hands hurt like hell my main spring house stop pin assembly refuses to go back in. Any ideas ? before I throw this thing through a window!

Make sure that you have the barrel/receiver pressed fully rearward onto the frame. Check this by checking the alignment of the hole for the bolt stop pin by inserting the bolt stop pin in from the top of the receiver.

If this all looks good, make sure that the hammer is forward (not in cocked position) during insertion and locking of mainspring housing assembly. I'm thinking that this is what's hanging you up.

Short of all that, I don't know what else to tell you. The Marks can be very frustrating...

We all go through the new process at one point. After a short time, you will be able to perform full detail strips on your MK III.

When reassembling, some of the issues are:

          1. Hammer is not in the forward position prior to re-installing the MSH.
          2. The hammer strut is caught between the frame and the sear spring retaining pin . . . Thus, not allowing the hammer strut to dangle and engage the MSH properly.
          3. The upper and lower are completely centered.

You Tube and Guntalk resources are excellent. In addition to the said, I recommend the AGI "Disassembly/Reassembly of the Ruger Standard Auto MKI, MKII, MKIII & 22/45" DVD. It is a complete and excellent resource for those whom are new to the Ruger MK platform.

Sounds like the OP got it? After a few go arounds, you can almost do it without the manual... almost.

The stupid magazine disconnect makes it a pain sometimes to remember that you have to have the mag in or out of the stupid thing.

One thing that was a minor annoyance was that the barrel/receiver can get twisted slightly when attached to the frame, so make sure you tweak it so it's all square before you try to push that stop pin assembly back in.

The first time you take it apart and get it all back together in a working state is a great feeling though.

No. 2 is the most critical step that seems to bugger up the process.

I find that if all else is well, you have to go muzzle up (45 degrees or so) to have the hammer strut hang free so it can engage in the dimple at the top of the mainspring housing (MSH). When you rotate the MSH into place you should feel the spring engage in just a little tension, then you know you're in. If not repeat.
At least that's how it goes for moi.

haha it is not a fun club to be apart of. Hopefully next time I have to break it down it goes much smoother. The pistol is too much fun to shoot. Only after a brick of federal 325 it has become my favorite pistol to shoot. I brought my CZ75b with me and only ended putting one mag through it because I was having too much fun with the MarkIII.

Here is my best group @ 10 yrds (Federal Bulk -4 shots)

Thanks again for all the help fellow calgunners.
