    10/22 Build Almost Done

    Before:

    After:

    16" GM Fluted Barrel
    Ruger Target Stock
    Tasco Red Dot
    Harris Bi-pod
Still to come: Mueller APT Scope should be arriving this week.

Wanted to keep my build simple and clean. Planning to use the red dot for rimfire steel matches.

I say put the zoom scope back on, instead of the red dot.

How did you eliminate your barrel band? Did you just take it off and all thats holding it is the one screw. Im going to be building a stock for mine and if I could eliminate that I think it would look alot better.

The stock is from the 10/22 Target model which does not use a barrel band.

New stock with a bull barrel doesn't require a barrel band. For the most part, if the stock is shaved down enough, the bull barrels are free floating.

So what is the difference in the target and the standard that the target doesnt need a barrel band would i be able to just use a target style stock and get away with the factory barrel with no barrel band?

Standard barrel is smaller in diameter than the bull (target) barrel. You can use a stock with a .920" barrel channel and the factory carbine stock - it'll just look ugly, however you can't use a .920" bull barrel with the factory carbine stock.

You can already run your standard carbine 10/22 without the barrel band. It isn't required for the gun to function properly, it just holds the barrel to the stock.

Iarecounfuse Thanks Im building a currently building a stock and i think the target stock without the lip for the barrel band looks way better then with the band. So maybe when I make my stock I wont cut that into it I'll leave it off alltogether for a better look.
