    Beretta NEOS FTF Problem

I was at the range yesterday, and kept having repeated FTF problems. When I cleared the round, the nose was all gouged/or nicked up. Sometimes it would fire a few times in a row, them FTF. I've been using Remington Bulk Pack, Winchester, and CCI nickel plated Stingers. All had problems. Since the ammo is getting gouged, could I have feed ramp problems? A few of the Winchesters held the slide open with the nose of the round at the top of the ramp. I pulled the slide back a hair and it would feed. I'm thinking this is a warranty situation. I'm going to break it down when I get home. Any suggestions? TIA

This is a new, post recall model. Thanks for the reply though.

if the bullet is getting clipped during the cycling then I would suspect feeding/ magazine problem. after the round gets trashed it probably doesn't seat correctly and the striking pin is missing the rim entirely. check if there are indentations in the wrong spot or none at all on the back of the casing.

the blowback spring may be too worn out causing HV ammo to cycle out of sync. As a test of this i'd try seeing if the problem occurs with low velocity rds.

Check to see that the barrel is tightened all the way down and installed correctly. I had something similar happen to mine and it was because the rear part of the barrel wasn't seated properly over the firing pin tube. That changes the angle on the feed ramp and causes some bent and gouged rounds.

Is your gun clean? When I had my Neos and was shooting BVAC .22LR out of it, it gunked it up really fast because of the weird sticky lube they use on their rounds. This causes 2-3 FTF's in every magazine. Once I cleaned all that up and used cleaner ammo, I had no more problems. Make sure the feed ramp is shiny and clean. I can't remember if there was a sharp lip that may needed some filing/polishing on the Neos, but if there is, polish it and make it smooth so the rounds feed without a hiccup.

this is the first suspect...you were using dirty bulk ammo, then you went to stingers but the face and ramp was already "crud'ed" up; i've NEVER had stingers fail to feed because cci stuff fires clean...

clean the breech face/barrel, make sure the barrel is seated properly then fire using the good stuff...if it still jams THEN you have a real issue...

                try another ammo

I broke my Neos in with CCI mini mags no issues. Bought a pack of Winchester bulk and thought I was going to have to send the gun in for work. Went back to CCI mini mags shot fine. Sense then have also shot Federal bulk with no issues. Winchester and Remington do not like my Neos.

CCI Stingers = Hyper Velocity, 1640 FPS. Is that pistol rated for that ammo? If not you could be prematurely wearing out the recoil spring and puting excessive stress on other parts of the pistol. I would check to see if its OK to use that ammo. Its a No-No in my S&W 22A, HV and SV only. Just a thought.

I had a similar issue with the winchester super X bullets. I did NOT have the problem when I used remington golden bullets or CCI. I think it has to do with how soft the different bullets are.

At home, cycle some rounds through it and see if you're getting a "scrape" across the bullet. It's the feed ramp that is causing that I believe. I changed brands and the problem went away so I haven't worried about it since. The root cause of the scraping is probably a slightly out of alignment feed ramp to magazine. Do remember that because the way this gun takes down, if the barrel isn't seated well/fully tightened it will make that problem worse.

Finally switched to Mini-Mags, fired 150 rounds and had 2 FTF and 2 light strikes. I'm going to smooth/polish the breech face/opening and see f that helps. All in all, mini-mags are enjoyed by the Neos.

I was having issues with my Neos with Golden Bullets - otherwise, it was good with any bulk ammo.

Ever since I installed the Carbine kit, not once have I had a feed issue.
