Question about an Nikon scope for 10/22

I like Nikkon scopes. Clear for the money.
The problem you have shooting short distances with a scope is parallax. I like to use a scope that has an adjustable objective for .22 LR. I can set the parallax for what ever distance I am shooting.

I have a couple ProStaffs and they are a great scope for the money.... IMHO, the best in that price range.Comment

This is a good scope for hunting or a known 100 yard range situation but it lacks features that you will want for very short or long range target shooting. It would be ok for 50/100 yard plinking.
This scope has a busy recticle and it is too thick. At 200 yards it will cover a large portion of the target. Aim small miss small.
It doesn't have an adjustable objective. At 25yrds it will have poor focus and you will not be able to get a stable target image. At over 100yrds same thing out of focus and the target image will move with head movement.
The optics are higher quality than is necessary for rimfire casual plinking. You can save money.
If you want a variable then look for something with a max magnification of 16. You can get by with 12 but more is better. If you really want to shoot a 22lr out too 200 yards, 3X9 magnification is not going to get you there. You will want 24X min.
And spend some money on wind flags. At 200 yards a rimfire bullet spends a long time in the wind.

I use the BDC reticle, no adjustable objective, and it's clear as a bell from 50 to 500yds. One is on my hunting rifle, and has been through the ringer with no issues. AO isn't needed unless you go above 9x, IMHO. Of course, I'm not a competitive shooter or anything.Comment

Ok so maybe 200yds is too much lol. What would be a better option for 25yds-100yds ?This is a good scope for hunting or a known 100 yard range situation but it lacks features that you will want for very short or long range target shooting. It would be ok for 50/100 yard plinking.

Mueller APV 4.5-14x40mm AO or Mueller Tactical 8.5-25x44mm AO. I own both and they are very clear. The APV has a duplex reticle that is a tad thick for serious target work but great otherwise. The Tactical has a Mil-Dot reticle that has very thin crosshairs, excellent for target work and hunting as well. I think both focus down to 10 yards to infinity. Excellent customer service and lifetime transferable warranty from Mueller. Look here for best prices: joeboboutfitters.com. Google Mueller Optics for their website.
The tactical is my favorite scope. I have not tried it out to 200yds so don't know if it has enough adjustment for that range with a .22lr, might need a 20moa base to shoot that far.Comment

Mueller has some scopes that are a good value.
Rather than point you to one scope I would go over some features that you may find important.
Clarity:
Most any modern scope that is in factory condition will be clear enough. It is not an issue today. Assuming you are shooting in the day time outside or at a well lit indoor range.
Recticle Crosshairs:
Really fine target crosshairs will be hard to use against dark backgrounds when plinking or hunting so go for a target recticle like a target duplex with a thin center cross and without extra foo fo.
Adjustable Objective:
While a low power rimfire scope used for bunny poppin at 25/50 yards can get away without AO all my scopes have it. Tin cans are much larger than a bullseye on a target. Think this way, aim small miss small.
Magnification:
Low mag power scopes with large objectives will have a larger field of view than small objective low power rimfire scopes, they are good for short range plinking/hunting. For the same objective size a high mag power scope has a smaller FOV, good for fine target.
Mounts/rings:
Look at EGW 10/22 Weaver rails and BKL mounts to match. These are medium price and good quality. Toss the rail that came with the rifle. Use Weaver type mounts not 3/8ths or tip off rails. Stick with scopes with a 1" tube so rings will be common. Get as close to the barrel as possible. Then work on getting your eye lined up with the tube.
Adjustments:
Low price scopes have hit or miss elevation and windage adjustment quality. The best you can expect is to hold. For under a few hundred dollars scopes should hold but they will not shoot a square box. Just got to live with it. If you need to move and then return to the same spot get a Weaver T24 and be done with it.

I did some research on Mueller Tactical you recommended and Im going to purchase one.
