    Turners Blazer .22 ammo

looking at picking up some .22 ammo when i go to pick up my rifle, Turners has Blazer for $17 and i wanted to know if its ok to shoot Blazer through my CZ452, i heard it was dirty, does it have any other problems, if i clean the bullets with a rag will it make a difference

    thanks in advance

its actually really good stuff. Their brass cases arent covered in gunk and are really smooth which helps feeding\extraction.

turner staff may tell you it shoots dirty. I dont notice any difference. I prefer 555 Winchester copper washed when its on sale.

based on what i've seen from shooting about a box of various bulk ammo per week, blazer included, the blazer rounds are not any dirtyer than any other brand.

the only brand i would recommend against is the Remington bulk box.

the drity is mostly from the powder residue, so there is nothing you can do to wipe or clean the case.

to help reduce gunk buildup, keep your actions lightly oil. if it looks wet, there is too much oil. this may mean that you will have to re-oil during your range session. on the other hand, i only clean my guns once every couple thousand rounds. the buildup from only 1 box should not be enough to affect the functions of your gun.

Here's a better deal on Blazer

Granted you have to buy 10 boxes.

The majority of my .22lr ammo is the 40 gr. lead nose Blazer, which is packaged 500 per box. I cannot say that it is much dirtier than the 40 gr. copper washed CCI Mini Mags or Federal.

The Blazer is very accurate in my 15-22 and MKIII678H. It does lead up after some 200 rounds in my Glock AA conversion kits though.

I have been buying the Blazer ammo by the cases through Dunn's and Palmetto.

oh god just forget about any of those primer-only super low velocities. ya i was able to shoot em open in the backyard they're quiet but they go everywhere. i got fed up a shot couple of cylinders of blazers got a decent grouping. ill give my left side (cool neighbors) some beer to make it up. cb longs also require a barrel clean after what 12 shots...

I guess I will have to the the one who says that I went away from blazers because they were 50 times dirtier then the CCI Mini Mags I now shoot.

When I use the blazers it makes everything feel like sand is in my rifle, inside the BCG and all the components in my lower. But I guess it's just me.

no no triggs75 I general feel like after a shooting alot of blazer i gotta use a couple more cotton patches to get the fouling than with copper washed stuff. Never really kept track I just get the impression that my post range cleaning session seems shorter and less messy with the winchester coppered 555. I read somewhere ar-15 .22lr conversions foul up pretty bad with non coppered

the blazer is accurate and reliable but really dirty ammo.. it cleans up real easy but the powder they use leaves alot of residue

Wiping them down with a rag wont do anything but remove so of the factory lube/wax that keeps your barrel from leading up. The "dirty" is almost always from the powder and/primers. Blazer isnt that dirty, I shoot a crapton of it through all kinds of guns. Its pretty accurate, very reliable and cheaper than a lot of other ammo.

blazer is nowhere near as dirty as federal bulk...i have shot 10 mags of each in a "dirty test" with a semi rifle (breech and barrel cleaned before each test)...federal bulk left the most unburnt powder; obvious after the 7-8th mag...and that where the feeding probs began...no feed issues with blazer after 10 mags...
