Unless you are LEO, you can't have a new one. Not on the CA approved list. I wanted one too only w/4" barrel.

i'm in washington state, i could walk in oregon or washington store & purchase a 50 bmg walking out the door; obviously this assumes you'd pass background check of course. background checks in either state are very quick too. usually 10$ for pistols & 20$ for long rifles unless the peeps are a rip off. that's mostly profit for just a phone a call. i've also got a s&w model 41 w/7" barrel, but it's difficult to get out of my wifes hands. just thought the lever action etc w/less expensive ammo to practice. i've been amazed what a laserlyte home target trainer has done in just a week of practice. totally worth the 52$ from midway. & you've got yourself a bore sighter too. lights up 100 milliseconds when it hears the click of hammer falling on snap cap.
hope this helps you better understand why i ask the question. didn't realize it wasn't cali acceptible. is it due to barrel length or what?

like it in the flat black too (360$ vs. 398$ for same barrel etc. i don't mind non stainless)

I thought cowboy type competitions/ exihbitons stay with the SAO, and those crazy tiny notch sights that are only good on like perfectly sunny days. Even those blackhawks with the adjustable rear sight wouldn't do i think.

            It's not a pistol, it's a revolver.
