Thanks for the Recommendations for a 22LR rifle?

Does anybody have a recommendation for an entry- to mid-level 22LR rifle? When I was young I remember shooting my dad's nylon stock Remingthon semi-auto that fed from the stock-butt. My son is now reaching that age and I want to pass along some similar memories. Since those times, I moved on to other cals (.308, .223, 30-06). Haven't owned or shot a 22LR rifle in a long time and I'm not sure what to get. Any suggestions are welcomed. The criteria are that it must be a fun, reliable, and reasonaly accurate rifle that he could grow into, and maybe shoot for accuracy some day before he moves on to other things many years from now. Prefer semi-auto, but maybe a bolt action. I have been looking at the Marlin 795 and 60SS (and of course the 10/22), but wondering if there may be a better rifle out there I should consider, even if its a little more money. I am partial to laminated wood stocks, but synthetic OK too. Thanks for the help.

10/22, 3 or 4 extra 10 round mags, a few soda cans and a brick of ammo is all this man is gonna say.

CZ are bolt action and will teach your son not to waste ammo and are guns of superior quality.

10/22, hands down for a fun gun, and you can customize the heck out of them.

Why dont you try to pass it on the way you learned it (and loved it),,,,search and find the boy a nylon 66. I learned how to shoot with one and my boy learned to shoot with one also. Yes, I still have the gun untill a grandkid comes along.

10-22's are outstanding! If you want a classic long barreled lever action, the Marlin 39 is mighty sweet and expensive, but it shoots great.

For a non AR15 type .22, the Ruger 10/22 is hard to beat. My favorinte is the short model with 16" barrel.
