factory .17hmr ammo preferrence?

Hey all,

Just bought a Savage .17hmr (thanks, Brantley04! ) and was wondering what you guys prefer as far as factory ammo...

I will be doing mostly target shooting, but hope to take it out hunting soon if I find someone to go with. Also does anyone regularly target shoot with a .17 round? If so, how far can you push it, and how are your groupings? I want to really challenge myself on this one...

i dont know about anyone else, but i use federals with the hornady v-max tip. Dont do any target shooting with them, but squirrels stand no chance at 100-150 yards. My best with those was 4 squirrels four shots at 135 yds. watch out for any type of breeze. it will stray your bullet. oh, i also have a savage .17 in camo

Rimfire guns tend to be picky about which load they like best. For my 93R17 it's the CCI TNT 17gr.
