    marlin 60 scope mount?

The rings on my Marlin keep sliding back on the dovetail rail. What are you guys using for scope mounts/rings on your 60's ?

    I was looking at this:

I'm pretty sure that's the one the folks on RimfireCentral.com swear by.

The current rings may be the wrong size, too "economy" or just not tightened. The rings you link to should be good rings, the BKL's to the left of your pick I am familiar with and would recommend. The vertical slot allows the BKL's to tighten without "bottoming out".

I've always had poor results when trying to use the stock dovetail when mounting optics on the Marlin 60. So I purchased something like this which made it much stronger and gave me the flexibility to mount using picatinny compatible optics.

If you want to stick with Weaver compatible optics you can use this.

I think my problem is the "el cheapo" rings that came with my scope. Even though they are tight, they still move. I'll try some higher -quality rings and see if that helps.

I wish I could put the weaver rail on it, but my Marlin doesn't have the holes for the weaver rail.

If you scrape the paint out the "V" in the dove tail and then reattach the rings that should stop it from sliding. You can also put a little bit of jb weld behind the rings and it will be rock solid. If you just change rings that will not solve the problem.

I have almost the exact same scope mount on my Marlin 60. It works great and does not budge on the dovetail, plus it does a good job in keeping zero. It's aluminum so be careful not to over-tighten the screws. If you want an inexpensive and easy solution, this will work.

I have a JC Higgins 31 (basically the 60's great grandfather) and use plain old Weaver 3/8" tip off for 1" rings. Solid as can be. BKL probably works fine too although that rail a few posts ago is pretty neat.
