Best Optics for Crickett .22

So, I want to get my Nephew a good scope and rings for his Davey Crickett rifle. He's got a Stainless Steel model with a gray laminated stock, so I'm thinking that I will get him a silver one (...I know it wont match the color exactly). I was just looking through Midway's website and the Weaver Classic Rimfire but I don't know anything about it.

I'm open to other options. What do you guys think?

Also, I'm thinking I should just pay the extra $$$ for nice rings. Is that a good idea, or a waste of money...

A mediocre scope with good rings is better than a good scope with bad rings. Don't skimp on the rings you will be sorry later. As for the weaver scope I am sure its a good one. Here's another option at a lower price and its a great scope for the $$$. Comes with a transferable lifetime warranty and the customer service of the company is unmatched in my opinion. I have one of these scopes and I really like it. It is very clear, holds zero and matches your color choice. It is larger than the weaver but the good side of that is that it can be used on a larger rifle later on. Here is a link to where I purchased mine and a link to the company who makes it. It is assembled in China but has Japanese optics and has Fully Multicoated lenses, not just multi-coated (big difference).

IMO...teach him to use iron sights. It would serve him better in the long run.

He's been using the irons for over a year now. He shoots very well with them.
