    Planned 10/22 upgrades-critique/recommend

    Hey guys I have a standard 10/22 that I am looking to upgrade a bit. This is on a budget as I have other projects in the works that require the majority of my disposable income.

    Barrel and stock combo:

    Hogue rubber overmolded stock and Clerke 16in bull barrel

    I wanted to get one of these triggers until I realized that they are made out of polymer...the stock one is metal so it feels like this would be a downgrade

    Anyone know of a decently priced accurate trigger group that has the auto bolt release and extended mag release and is all metal?

    I am also looking for a good oversized bolt knob if you guys know of a good place for those.

    Still looking for a decent scope (also do I need a new scope base?)

    Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks for the help
    God, grant me the serenity
    To accept the things I cannot change;
    The courage to change the things I can;
    And the wisdom to know the difference.

      Auto-bolt release takes about 5 minutes with a dremel with your stock release: don't bother buying one.

      There's tons of extended mag releases out there, the easiest for me is the type that wraps all the way around the trigger guard.

      Look around on Midway.com, there's a ton of 10/22 stuff there.

        I shoot a tactical match with my plastic trigger housing, I been placing third everytime. I replaces hammer sear bolt release and trigger. Breaks perfectly clean and did not spend much. You want and 18 barrel for shooting 1200fps ammo. Never buy super sonic ammo, it's just not as accurate and sub sonic.

        5moa picatinny rail worked great. Red locktight is a must.

        Konus scopes are great for 500 and nikko sterling are good for 200. 300 bucks more for the knous is well well worth it.

        If you really want metal trigger group go with the Kidd group. I like the 1lb trigger. I bought the whole like for 700 and my groups are 1/2 moa at 50yards. 3/4 at 100. I got the targets to prove it. Granted it spend 50 bucks a box of 500 for ammo and a 800 dollar scope I bought used.

          There is absolutely nothing wrong with the polymer trigger group from Hornet Customs. I absolutely love mine. It comes ready to shoot and for the price, you can't beat it. Don't get me wrong, other groups are very nice but after polishing up the contact surfaces on mine, it went from 2.75 lbs to just around 2. I personally like to "feel" the break and this trigger works very well for me. I've placed 2nd and 1st on the last 3 rimfire precision matches so I wouldn't worry about the polymer housing. Your biggest issue should be with the barrel and bolt specs and don't hesitate to try many different types of ammo to see which works best for that barrel. There is a thread on here from Tony Kid about the dimentions of the bolt and your stock bolt may work just fine. Bolt handles, it's personal preferance but I do like what Tony Kid offers. Other than that, Have fun and enjoy the experience!

            Ever think about the Volquarsten trigger group?

              Here's what I did to make my 10/22 match grade: 18" Ruger Cold Forged barrel, hornet 2 stage 2.5# trigger group, kidd buffer, kidd receiver pin kit, kidd bolt and a fajen thumb hole stock. At my last 50 yard match with federal match 40gr I shoot 1/4" to 3/8" groups and at 100 yards it'll shoot 1/2 groups. All this for under 425 including the cost of the gun
