    Help with S&W MP 15-22P

My next purchase will be this lil guy, I've already set it up with my out of state FFL for the single shot conversion. My question is does the MP rifle platform conform to normal rifle specs? The reason is I will need to buy a BB to lock the magazine in place; so its not a CA aw per its features.
    Thank you!

You should have no issue using a BB to secure the magazine.

I did not think rimfire required a BB.

M&P 22-15s are sold here now. Its a rimfire and the AW laws don't apply except for the 10 mag limit.
        where are my pistol mags?

I am talking about the pistol version as a matter of fact. To rephrase my question better: Would a normal BB for any AR type platform fit on the MP 15-22P as to secure the magazine?

I believe the 15/22 pistol is still illegal.

It's discussed in the above link. Not sure what the remedy ever was to make it Cali legal or if Markenstein was ever able to get one. I personally haven't seen one for sale in California or seen one at a range. Curious to know if anyone knows something more than I do.

Warning! The assault weapons issues for handgins DO NOT exempt .22 rimfire like rifles do!

If he DROS's it as a single shot he'll be legal.

You guys who hang out mostly in the rimfire section should check out the rest of this site and get yourself straight on the laws. Lots of FUD in this thread so lets see if we cant clear some of it up

This pistol CAN be had legally if converted to single shot prior to DROS, as well has locking the mag to avoid AW law violations.

This is done by using a bullet sled mag (ie a mag that hold ZERO rds.) and a bullet button or other similar mag lock.

Directly after DROS (or when you get home) it is now LEGAL to convert your single shot pistol to semi-auto. In this case the conversion is simply installing a real MAG.

A rimfire pistol in this particular configuration CANNOT have the magazine exceed 10rds.

HOWEVER contrary to popular belief on all other rimfire rifles (and pistols that dont have fixed or internal mags) there are NO restrictions for using "hi-cap mags"

Does not matter if the rifle or the mag was made after the cut off date of 1999, USE and POSSESSION of a hi cap mag in the forms mentioned above are not illegal PERIOD.

ACQUISITION of mags that exceed 10rds is really the only thing governed about magazines. . . . but thats a story for a different night.

                        p.s.

                        OP
a regular AR mag lock SHOULD work just fine. Worst case scenario you might have to do a tiny bit of fitting
