    Red dot scope MOA

Trying to decide on a Red dot for the Ruger mark III, the only experience I have is a guy let me shoot his with an Ultradot 30mm with 4moa, is this the prefered moa for target shooting? Will usually be at 25 to 50yds. Would I be better off with a red dot with multiple moa options?

    Thanks for any input, Ken.

Adcom makes a 2 MOA dot but is hard to see in the light! I would go with a 3moa are you going to be shooting plate size targets? Adcom makes a litte red dot that would fit that gun perfect they do make a 3MOA

You need to to take into acct is the size of what you are shooting at. the smaller the target the smaller you dot should be. I agree with 3moa and even 2moa, but as stated it becomes hard to see.

the advice that i have gleaned is exactly what has been said... depends on what you are shooting.

smaller (2moa) is more for bullseye shooting... larger (4-5moa) is better for action/silhouette type shooting where it's more important to rapidly acquire the target.

one trick to keep in mind... most smaller 2moa dots can be made "larger" by cranking their brightness up so they appear larger in your view. not to say that is a 100% guarantee in bright outdoor light though.
