    Cutting stock on .22

Well I had a buddy ask me a question and I figured I would run it by you guys to get an answer. He wanted to know the legality of cutting the stock of his .22 to make it a pistol grip. I told him I believe it is legal as long as the overall length is of the legal limit. I do not know what the overall length has to be. Please correct me if I am wrong in any way. Please don't flame me about cutting the stock. It's not mine and I would never do it to mine so no need to give me a hard time. Thank you in advance.

The overall length needs to be at least 26" after it's been cut. Pistol grip is a non issue since it's a rimfire. As long as it's at least 26", you're good to go.
