Hi all,
Been pondering a .22 bolt-gun to learn a bit more and practice long(er) range shooting w/o breaking the bank on ammo costs.
The Savage Mk II series has been recommended in more than a few places as a good place to start. In particular, I like the stock design on the Mark II in "TR" trim... plus that stock layout is more conducive to bench target shooting anyhow (I think).
Getting a regular Mark II and retrofitting it with a similar style stock from Boyd's looks like it'd be a +$100 upgrade, so I might just spring for the "TR" model.
Therein lies the rub though... it appears this model is a bit hard to find in the SFBA. Has anyone recently found one stocked by a dealer in the SFBA? I know some of them will special order if necessary. One dealer I spoke to yesterday was saying now that varmit season is past, they are not likely to be taking delivery of anymore rimfire rifles this year w/o special orders.
I found some online sources for this model (e.g. US Autoweapons) but a local dealer will probably cost about as much once the FFL transfer fees and such kick in.
Any leads would be appreciated! Thanks.

But I'll keep them in mind if they have inventory.
I already have the Ruger Mk III, now I need a long gun...
