i know ruger has a their charger 10/22 pistol which is illegal to sell in california and i believe the reason is, its considered a assult weapon due to the magazine not going thru the pistol grip and having a short barrel. but i dont see any reason you cant get a pistol grip for it, there are some other 10/22s on here with pistol grip stocks.

Rimfire rifles don't have to worry about features. You can have a detachable mag, pistol grip, retractable stock, forward grip, and flash hider if you wanted. Just be sure to meet the 16" barrel AND 26" overall length, and you're golden.

          No problem!

While you've got your 10/22 disassembled, be sure to do the auto bolt-release mod. Just be sure the top edge is slightly rounded; quick work with a dremel.

I didn't know about the overall 26" length, good to know. I'm looking for a used 10/22. I figure since I'm going to change most of it I might as well get used.

Rimfire is exempt, no bullet button needed. Look at the M&P 15-22, no bullet button on it.
