    Locking an AR-15 .22LR conversion kit closed?

    I use a CMMG .22LR conversion kit in my AR-15 occasionally and have recently started experimenting with subsonic rounds and even powderless rounds (Super Colibri).

    My question is, is there a way to lock the .22LR bolt forward so it can't cycle and must by cycled manually with the charging handle? Has anyone done this before?

      They're blowback operated. You could try replacing the recoil spring with a stiffer one.

          I don't know if a stiffer spring would hold the bolt closed completely? On a side note I don't mind modifying the kit.

              Outside of drilling and tapping the side of the bolt and screwing a removable "bolt handle" to hold closed while shooting, I don't know what it would be.

                  I know the erginomics of it are different, but I've heard of guys holding the bolt closed on their 10/22s with their support hand
