GSG 522 vs M&P 15-22

So I want some advise. I'm looking at getting one of these. I can get the GSG for about 40 bucks less than the M&P 15-22. However I have a 5.56 AR and I like that the M&P is the same layout so for mussle memory and training perposes it's the same. What do you guys think, which should I get? I like the look of the GSG but I honestly don't know anything about it. Is it a good plunker? Let me know your thoughts on the two and PLEASE state WHY.

Had the M&P. Shot the 522. Bought the 522 (big5). Sold the M&P. Smile =). rrages.com lets you deck the sh* out of it to your hearts content.

Edit WHY: Metal gsg vs plastic m&p. The hk gsg action is by far cooler than the typical ar action. Cant do the HK slap on a m&p =P

Get both. They are both bound to please, as most of the little .22's do.

If you want a nice understudy for your AR the 15-22 will work great. Nice to have fully working features as on the "big" gun.

I own both guns and they are both fun to shoot. The GSG5 does feel more solid compared to the MP15-22. The weight of the GSG is also more balanced as well because of its size and it is made of metal. However the MP does get a lot of attention on the range because of the way it looks. I think you can't go wrong with either one.

I have a GSG 5. It's internally the same as the GSG 522. It's a pain in the neck to work on, even if you're just field stripping it for cleaning. When you do take it apart, you'll need other tools besides the one they give you. Quite frankly, it's an over engineered gun. Too many small parts to lose. The only pleasant surprise I got out of my GSG 5 is the great customer service at ATI.

Wanna make gunsmithing your part time job? Get a GSG 5. Otherwise, it's pretty darn accurate when it's not being finicky.
