I've been googling all morning and I cant seem to find the wording regarding AR pistols in rimfire. Do they need a bullet button? or does the rimfire exempt the pistol also?

A semi-automatic pistol, with any of the SB23 features for pistols (threaded barrel, magwell outside pistol grip, etc) is an AW without a bullet button.
Unlike rifles, they didn't clarify "semi automatic" with "centerfire", so rimfire is included in the laws.
If you had checked the top of the page you would have found the Handgun AW ID flowchart and it would have answered your question in about 10 seconds:

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
