Problem: 15-22 Etching Bullets

Hey guys i need some help. My last trip at the range after about 500 rounds my accuracy started going out the window and I started getting FTE's. I noticed that my bolt was ething my bullets. Basically everytime a new round is chambered, as the bolt goes forward it scrapes the next one in the mag. Please watch this vid I made which goes into more detail...Hoping for some input and was wondering if one of you wouldnt mind putting a couple bullets in yours, racking the bolt, ejecting the mag, and see if the top bullet in the mag has an etch in it. It does it with any ammo, on multiple mags, and both with the gun clean and dirty. HELP!!!!

Yea and thats not even from it going into the chamber/traveling up the feed ramp, its happening before while its still in the mag.

Interesting I am not really sure because I have never seen that, but could it be possible the feed lips on the mag or worn and letting the bullet ride high in the mag? so when the bolt closes it is shoving the bullet back down.

Have you looked to see if there is some slag or other defect on the bottom of the slide? Other than that Greed 647's explanation seems like a good place to start.

I have seen that before that on my MP15-22...
You need to check the button of the bolt and try to see any usual marking...
for the etching like this... you should see some marking on the bolt.
You need to use sand paper on it and lube it....
at the same time, lube your magazines as well....

Ok I'll try that out. I'll give S&W a call tomorrow and see what they have to say. I just dont want to have to send it in to em haha, dont wanna wait But if I do I guess thats the price I pay for them having good customer service and backing their product haha.

I don't think its a mag related issue, I have 8 of them and it happens with all of them.

So they finally came out with the rifle that is compliant to have SN etched on the bullet.

For some reason, the second round in the magazine is up too high. Either the mag is too high (faulty mag catch?), the rounds are angled up too steep (improper feed lips?), or the pickup rail, or entire bolt, is too low.

You are probably right, I guess the real problem is I dont know how to assess these tolerances and correct them. I sent an e-mail to S&W with the pics and details, lets put their customer service to the test haha. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks alot for the responses you guys rock.
