    Inexpensive semi pistol

I have been looking at the Walther P22, Neos, and S&W 22A. Nice guns but IMO expensive. Im looking for a inexpensive .22lr for plinking and range work. Isnt there something decent under $200 a semi and availabe in CA? Thanks!

You can go to the Beretta mouseguns - 21 or 950BS. But I wouldn't suggest it. I own the 950BS (.25 ACP). I like Beretta products, but they really are hard to be accurate with.

I really think you are ruling out some nice guns that are NOT expensive. Neos, S&W 22A... Both under $300 for new. Cheaper used.

Especially on a 22LR - they are finicky. If you have to go to more expensive 22LR ammo - like CCI stingers, then you are NOT saving money.

With 22LR at 3 cents, I would seriously think about upping your $$ for a gun, something that will be worth MORE in the future than now.

Browning Buckmark, or S&W 22, or if you REALLY want a 22, go with S&W 41, but that's about $900 (and worth it).

If you want to go low cost - get a revolver or rifle in 22. Easy to go under $200 and get something GREAT. ( Marlin 60 / Ruger 22/10). Or off brand H&R 22 DA revolvers are a LOT of fun!

Try to pick up a used Ruger Mark II. Or there is this:

Phoenix Arms has Closed. Parts and Accessories can be purchased from this online store.

I have never held it but it was recommended by another member here on CalGuns or over on RimfireCentral.
Son, one day you will make a girl very happy, for a short period of time. Then she will leave you and be with men who are ten times better than you could ever hope to be. These men are called Marines.

          Re: Inexpensive semi pistol

Find a used MKII or a MKIII. It might cost you a few bucks more than what you are looking to spend but they are worth it.

+1 On the Phoenix HP22. Very reliable gun for the money, and is actually quite pleasant to shoot. I have several hundred flawless rounds through mine.

The Phoenix is great! accurate eats anything and trouble free at 500 rds so far. Best money I've spent on a 22. And under $200.OTD.

You can get a new Ruger Mark III 22/45 with a 5.5" bull barrel new out the door for $318. I doubt you are going to find anything worth shooting for less...

The Phoenix looks interesting. Just cant find one in the surrounding Sacramento area.

I would suggest that you go look at and hold the Walther P22, Neos, S&W 22A and the Ruger. All have a different feel and look. I have the S&W 22a and it has the look and feel of a larger caliber pistol, shoots every type of ammo I have used (5-6 different brands) but its my only 22 pistol so I cannot compare to the others.

I have shot a Ruger and its a very nice pistol. Turners has them and the S&W 22a on sale occasionally for $229+tax+DROS. Good deal on both.

I have read that the Walther P22 can be picky with ammo, seems some owners say it doesn't like hollow point ammo. If true then it wouldn't be good with most bulk ammo. Read this thread for more info:http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=350741

I have read good things about the Neos, just not the look for me.

If you are serious about a pistol, take your time so you only have to buy once. The cheapest pistol isn't necessarily the lowest cost if you end up not liking it.
