    Colt M4 ops 22.lr

Seems like a good gun. i saw promising reviews on youtube but one of my main concerns for this gun is, is it like a wanabe real m4? like is it a immitation of the m4 or any other gun? (kind of like how there are fake airsoft guns that try to look like real guns)

I'm pretty gun ignorant so it'd be nice if one of you guys could enlighten me.

besides that it seems to be a pretty good plinkster to me

This is of course different than an M4 chambered in 5.56, but its definitely much more economical to shoot if you like the platform of the AR style rifle.

I own one of these Colt M4 .22 along with an actual CA Compliant AR, and I love them both! Its nice to shoot the same style rifle chambered for .22 especially if you are on a budget.

So what if its an M4gery in .22! what matters is you like it and you're gonna use it. No shame in that.

BTW: There is no comparison between Airsoft and the Colt M4 .22!
Yeah, they may resemble the body of a real M4 but there is nothing imitation or limitation on what the M4 .22 can do

Don't mean to be rude, but do you own a Colt M4 22lr? My lower is a alloy cast. Not the strongest in fact some people who don't take the time to research, read and learn about there guns have been known to break it inserting the rear pin.

As far as the rifle is concerned it has got a bad rep from a lot of people. I have found that some people just don't clean and take care of there guns and expect them to function. I love mine it is great fun for the kids to plink with. You need to keep it clean, lubed and use good ammo like CCI mini mags.

Be prepared for those to come on here and trash this little rife!

I have the same rifle and absolutely love it... I agree, just keep it lubed and clean and it will work great. As far as the rear pin is concerned, just dont exert a great deal of force or bang it with a hammer and it will work perfect!

I think the other user probably got the Colt M4 missed up with the MP15-22

I won't buy one due to the non-functioning bolt release and the half *** charging handle.

I picked mine up real cheap because the previous owner couldn't figure how to get the pin back in! His loss my gain! It helps to read the manual that tells you to loosen the barrel nut to insert the pin.

All I can say is... SWEET!!!

Too bad for the previous owner because I find it to be a great rifle!

I know people dont like the fact that the forward bolt assist and the bolt release are just aesthetics, but... really if you want something real, i would just save the extra money for the real deal AR...

For a plinker, it works fine for my purpose...

Get the SW MP 15-22 easily. It's cheaper and better, no questions asked. If you feel like gaining the know how to build a dedicated AR platform in .22lr, do it. If not, not a big deal at all, just get the SW

When you guys get deeper into the trigger pack give the sear and the hammer engagement surfaces a nice polish, Thats about the only thing you can do to help with the heavy trigger without messing with the springs and spring rates.

I ordered several replacement springs for the trigger pack from Umarex because Im interested in lightening the trigger pull even more by perhaps cutting some coils here and there on the trigger springs. I may try some experimental cutting of the hammer spring itself once the extras arrive.

If it bugs some of you that much like it did me I just removed the bolt release and plugged the Forward assist hole with a piece of delrin. Since both pieces were non-functional Im not going to miss them at all or the explanation to a fellow gun owner of why my rifle has fake parts on it.

If you want a .22lr that opperates just like an M4 get the S&W 15-22. Its bolt release actually works an isnt just a decoration.

its lighter, cheaper, easier to mod, and much easier to take down and clean too

in the end though, these are all just pinkers. You will be fine no matter what you pick

There's a guy named Bill Springfield that does trigger work on these...there's another thread on here with a bit of info about using him. I think islandsnow was the OP...

http://triggerwork.net/ar15s.html The info for the Colt M4 .22LR is about midway down the text portion of this page.

I sent my trigger pack (all he needs is the pack, not the whole lower) off to him on a Monday last month, and got it back Saturday the same week! The pull is definitely lighter and the trigger creep is gone...well worth the $49 in my opinion.

Before you ask, no I do not personally know Bill, nor do I get a kickback from him for advertising his business. Just spreading the word about someone who did right by me for my fellow Cal Gunners!
