    Cheap Red/Green Dot for 15-22

After a few trips to the range and desert with this sub $40 Red/Green-dot I can finally vouch for it. If you are looking for an in-expensive red dot solution I totally recommend this one. I am at around the 2000 round marker with it and have not had a single problem. Holds zero even through transport in a soft case and doing 100 yard sprint run-n-guns. Clicks for windage and elevation are crisp and uniform (only downside is you need a penny or flat head to adjust / can't do by hand). Got it to co-whitness perfectly with a cheap UTG 1/2 riser. 1 MOA dot with 5 levels of brightness for both Red and Green. So far still running on original battery. I'm a very happy camper, especially after the problems I had with the Barska electro/reflex one I started with. Anyone had problems with any Leapers stuff?

Here is a pic of one of my better 5 shot groups using this optic off of sandbags both eyes open...

And a sad attempt of getting a pic down the sight. This is with the Red dot on the lowest power setting (1 out of 5). It looks a lil off but thats do to me not having the camera lined up well.

See, when it comes to .22, optics don't even have to top $40! Great report!

Its Leapers Golden image 30mm Red Dot
              Part Number SCP-RD40RGW
              UPC 4715643000251

It comes in a gold box.

I don't know the part number for the riser but it is just a run of the mill 0.5" UTG riser with 8 slots worth of length.

I recommend getting the riser with it because the optic by itself will sit too low on the rail to keep the irons useful.

EDIT: Just noticed Vega's post above this one, that is the exact one I have.

That is great shooting with any rifle with any optics. You got a winner there. You should get into the monthly rimfire match here on the forum, always a 25yard target for irons or red dot. Its fun.

$30.98/free shipping. I'll be picking this up to replace my 4 MOA BSA RDS.

Looks like a great buy and with really good reviews, but I believe it's a 5 MOA dot rather than 1 MOA as stated by the OP - Still would be nice for 25 yd. though.

You may be right, I am not 100% sure on the dot size. If you look at the picture the dot is roughly the same size as the front iron sight post is wide. I don't want to mislead anyone.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the 1 MOA. I received my rds in the mail Wednesday, and took it out to Cherry Creek on Saturday. The difference between my old 4 MOA BSA rds and this Leapers is like night and day. While the box or manual didn't state the MOA, its clearly at least a 2 MOA.

On another note, I did a rough zero for about 75 yards and was really happy with this rds. I highly recommend it for anyone in the market for one.
