What is this round ??

This is not .22LR. The width of the shell casing OD is .2465. The height of the shell casing is .6160. The overall length of the round is .9060. The bullet diameter is .2160.
Please see the attached pictures compared to a .22LR round. The unknown round is the thicker one with the pronounced band around the casing. There is also a U headstamp, which best I can tell indicates it's from Union Metallic Cartridge Company.

My measurements are either very far off, or this may not be a 25. Stevens short. I hope it is as the rounds are selling for $2.75 each.

This matches up very close. I think we have a winner. Found some on gunbroker, can not see the whole bullet, but the headstamp is a U as well. This is the round. So, do I find a gun to shoot these rounds or sell them. Common sense says sell the rounds, but my inner child says I need another gun.

Unless you are really collecting, I wouldn't bother with buying a rifle. Especially if you want to shoot it. If you have the box, save them and put them on the display shelf.

Looks like it only fit 1 gun, the Remington model 16 autoloader. They will be displayed or donated.

It kinda reminds me of the .22 Winchester Automatic... In fact, if you think its a .22 Remington Automatic, but things are just slightly off, check out the .22 Winchester Automatic because they are nearly identical.

well it's one of the 2, some measurements like rim diameter are closer to the Win, while case diameter is closer to the Rem. Either way it's some old ammo! 1932 is the newest it could be.

Case length closer to Rem, overall length closer to Win. Based solely on the case diameter, I think it's the Remington auto. Good fun research.
