I am kind of confused. I just got my Marlin 925 and want to put a scope on it. I have a Simmons 3-9x32 scope, I am just confused about how to mount that scope. I understand that the Marlin 925 has two ways to mount them, this is what Marlin's site says, "Adjustable open rear, ramp front. Receiver grooved for scope mount; drilled and tapped for scope bases." So my question is, what is a better way of mounting a scope? What parts do I need to buy? And is there a way to easily remove my scope so I can use my iron sights still? Thanks for all the help, I am still new to all this stuff and trying to learn the best I can. Thanks for all your time to answer my questions.

well not sure what your marlin came with but my 795 just has a simple rail on top of the receiver. Its not god enough. some guy machines some nice picitinay weaver style mounts that slide on the factory rails, and clamps down with multiple bolts. thats what you need. I ditched my factory sights, as a see through mount is not an option.t

You have a 3/8th" groove or dovetail. Sometimes called a tip off rimfire mount. This a decent way to mount a light weight small scope such as one puts on a rimfire. There are some 11mm dovetail mounts as well. This is about the best 3/8th dovetail mount you can get.
Model 257 is for 1' scope tubes. Designed for the shooter who needs stability and prefers independent scope rings.
The Picatinny/Weaver rail is a larger more versatile mounting system. The Picatinny/Weaver ring and mount makers offer thousands of different height and grade rings and adapters. Rimfires usually don't need this type of adjustment or holding power. You might find a Picatinny/Weaver rail to bolt onto your rifle and that would work but add extra stuff. On rifles with the groove/dovetail I just go with that. Simple is good.

I use a 3/8" to Weaver adapter on my 925M, works great and allows more options for rings and red dot or holograph site if that's your bag. Look on pyamidair.com for "3/8 to weaver adapter". Dovetail type rings will work well also, just make sure you buy good ones.Comment
