      The safety button has rotated.
The safety detent plunger is not pushing on the correct side of the safety.

This can happen when the safety is moved to the half way position and then the barreled action removed from the stock (like when cleaning or changing stock types).
In the half way position the safety can rotate out of the correct alignment when it rubs against the stock on the way out or on the way back in.

The safety "barrel" is flat and tapered on one side, the detent plunger under spring tension pushes it sideways if installed "upside down".
On the other side, the safety barrel is notched in two places for the plunger to drop into for that click on-click off effect.
Try moving the safety to the halfway point and rotating it about 180 degrees.
It might be tough because the plunger is on the wrong side and will not want to retract into its recess, you may need to grab it firmly with needle nose pliers to get it to rotate.

I can fix it while you wait if you bring it to me.
Long drive, I know, but it's an option.
