You can use the 30 round magazine in an evil feature rifle, but I believe you still can't use it in a BB. Fixed mag over 10 rounds is still illegal, except for tube feed.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I'm not an expert, but I feel clued into the rules. Here's my reply based on my undertanding:

Rimfires are not assault weapons. See the AW flowcharts above. The first question in the flowchart says 'Was the center fire rifle...'

Second, high capacity magazines (still considering rimfire) are OK to possess and use in your rimfire rifle. The only caveat to that is that you should have possessed the high cap before the 2000 (or was it 2001?) ban.

You CAN use your legally possessed high caps in your rimfire rifle.

When you get to centerfire you start to run into more complexity:
If you have featureless you can use detachable mags (of any size as long as legally possessed).
If you have evil features you need to have a fixed capacity no greater than 10 rounds.

INAL and your mileage may vary.
