rebuilding ramline mags ?

i did a search here and just want to clarify what is legal , and and some incite

i have a few ramline 50 round mags from my high school days , and they dont work worth crap , and a couple of funky 50 rounders tear drop shape that you wind with a key that work like a champ, so my understanding is that i dont have to repair the mag with orig parts(orig is glued) , but what options do i have on rebuilds of 50 rounders ? does anyone make a 50 round stick mag rebuilds ? (only seen 25 rounders) does anyone make a rebuild for the tear drop drums? as they where the best i have used over the years... anywho hoping someone can help me out on my search to see if its worth rebuilding these 8 dollar mags (80's price ..lol)

Technically you can replace every part on a mag. Therefore you could have a mag made of completely new parts that is considered a rebuild.

You may not have more mags than you started with.

If you have a mag that is glued together, I would order a rebuild kit for it. Break or cut the original mag open and use the follower in the new mag.

Once something is a high cap mag it doesn't matter how many rounds it holds. Therefore if you wanted to rebuild a 25 round mag into a 50 round, that would be fine.

Personally I believe you should save the parts of your original mags just in case you are ever questioned, but some will tell you to just throw them away.

thats my question is there such a thing as a rebuild for 50 rounders ? i have only seen the 25 round screw together ones .. as far as breaking open the ramlines, thats a none issue, as thats why they have failed split there seams and feed lips are done, i was able to salvage my 30 rounders with jb weld ...lol

Ramline has been a longtime MFR of moderately questionable quality.
Some of their stuff turns out great...
Some of it it total crapola...

And you never know how good it's gonna be until you try it.

Personally, since Ramline refuses to make any more stocks for Marlins .22's,
& has dropped the hi-cap mags (model 70) from their lineup...I'm done with them, too.

My old ramline 50 rounders used to work great. I could peel off all 50 as fast as the BMF activator would go. Now they get all jammed up during loading process!

Is the consensus that the tear drop/wind up type 50 rounders are superior? The drum has terrible reviews on CTD, havent seen any reviews of the tear drops/windups...

The tear drops have always been finicky. If you can do with 25 round mags, the absolute best 10-22 mags on the market are TI mags. You can easiler take them apart for cleaning/repair and adjust them for cant, feed angle and tighten them to prevent wobble.

thanks folks ,damn inflation 80 bucks each to rebuild a 8 dollar mags (bought them all new with my 10-22 in 84 ..lol) ... i see the new drums also will work with ar's with a different tower , looks like a win win ... thanks again for the links folks ...

CSACANNONEER my teardrops work great, but then again i dont think they from the same manufacture that the ones now are , mine have no brand name on them

i recently had 2 30rd ramlines split at the seams.

i cleaned them up reassembled them and wrapped electric black tape around them,they work great again.might not be pretty but function counts more then looks sometimes

I was talking about the OLD tear drop mags. You must have some from a good batch.

$80 TI mags? If so, you're looking at the ones machined from alluminum. They are AWESOME mags. But, you can also find TI mags for less than half of that in polymere. They still have the same features as the alluminum ones for half the price. I have several of both.
