I have a MKIII Hunter and a 1973 Model 41. Both have been shot about the same amount by me, the 41 obviously shot more by someone else, and I like the trigger on the 41 much better. The LCI on the 41 is also the Walther style that protrudes from the rear of the slide and does not stick out the side like the Ruger. I dislike all magazine disconnects and that's probably why the Ruger trigger is less desirable than the 41. But the overriding reason to prefer the 41 is that it is the most beautiful .22 ever made. I've lusted after this gun since the late sixties, but it took until 2003 to finally spring the dough to get it.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, in practice, there is.

I have a 22/45 and really enjoy shooting it. I replaced the Ruger extractor with a Volquartsen, otherwise I left it stock. Turner's frequently has them on sale.

I own a model 41 and about 6 Ruger autos. The model 41 is a fine pistol and can be tuned to near a world class performance standard. Model 41s can still win on the national level. The Ruger is also a very good pistol at about half the price. There is nothing wrong with the Mark III, although the first round must be pointed up or FTF can be a problem. Otherwise, I'd be happy with either one and I can shoot them both equally. Lately, I've been interested in lighter pistols and the Ruger fits that description very well.
Both pistols are America's finest, if you see one you like, pick it up.

        Thanx, Russ
