    Pistol Scopes

    I have a Beretta Neos with a 6" barrel.

I wanted to get a budget pistol scope for this thing, fixed magnification is fine. Something like a 2x scope would work. Im having a hard time finding something decent under $100

    Any recommendations?

I have a really crappy ebay/china red dot right now... I cant belive how bad it is. Even while mounting tight I can move the upper portion off alighnment; it wont hold zero at all.

I would consider another red dot, like a Primary Arms micro dot, but im in the mood to try a scope for some longer range target shooting.

Pistol scopes start at about 2X and go up to about 8X. Most have hunting type recticles and have nonadjustable parallax. They work well inside 100 yards.
What is your price range? I have pistol scopes from cheap to expensive and you can easily tell the difference in a head to head comparison. But the low end NcStar 2X7 variable is adequate for a sunny day plinking from 50 to 75 yards. I have Weavers in 8X and they are good out to 200 yards.
An inexpensive accurate rimfire pistol can use a good scope but it will be just fine with a low end.
Don't go wild with your first pistol scope as they are not for everyone.

Having alot of Encore & Contender barrels I would say that handgun scopes are not like rifle scopes - it's tough to find a cheap one that works well. I generally use Burris and the Weaver 2.5 to 8X and they are well over $100.00. My suggestion would be to try a Swift fixed power or try and find a Smith & Wesson brand, I believe the S & W was made by Hakko. Most folks don't realize the Smith brand is pretty good, they tend to go cheap on EBay.

            BSlacker,

Thanks for the info. My price range is $100 or less, less is better =)

I am not looking for a serious or high end pistol scope as this is just a plinker I use to kill time at the range. I dont plan on shooting past 50 yards with the pistol so a fixed 2x power would be great. Just looking for something small enought to fit on the above pistol.

I just saw the NCStar 2x fixed scope. Is this something you would recommend, the price is about $35 bucks. Let me know if you have any other recommendations.

NcStar has a spotty reputation. I have two and they do ok for what I expect. My S&W 22A 71/4" barrel has a 2X7X32 and it is fine for 50 to 80 yard plinking. I am not shooting in low light so the optics are fine. They have a lifetime warranty so keep the receipt. Some come with rings and that helps with cost.

I have a cheap BSA from walmart. It cost around $20 I think like 8 years ago. I have 3 of these scopes and they all hold zero perfectly and have worked great over the years. My only compliant is that it's a little big, but it works great.

I have no problem getting another red dot... I was looking at the primary arms Micro dots since I can still use it on my AR if I ever decied to take it off the pistol.
