    Beretta Neos Recall

I don't know if this has been posted or not, but Beretta has put out a recall on the Neos.

    Re: Beretta Neos Recall

Looks like a pretty major redesign of the firing pin. We have one that needs to be sent in.

Thanks for the heads up. I do not have one but there is a guy at my range that I always talk to that has one and I will let him know.

Crap, mine's affected, and I think my roommates' is as well. I don't use the safety, as it's only a range/plinking pistol so I don't think I'll send mine in.

I'm not going to send mine in. I'm just going to buy a new firing pin. It's like a 30 second fix.

They wont sell you a firing pin and from the look of the the new pin I would not be surprised if other components needed replacing.

I dont mind sending ours back, since we purchased a Ruger MKIII the Neos just sits in the safe

My trigger took a crap so I sent it in for repairs and it looks like they did the recall while it was at beretta so I'm good. thanks for the heads up though!

I didn't send mine in for the recall but I bought a new firing pin from Brownells becuase my old one wore out and wouldn't lock up all the time. (I did do work to it but it was great for a few years) little did I know they changed them, I just saw the recall trying to figure out why the new one was different.

Anyway you want to see crap (or feel crap I should say) ... wait until you get that new firing pin, the step on them is huge now. It use to be about .017 now its around .058 so there's so much take up in the trigger now its horrible. I ended up re-cutting my old one so it's works again but who knows how long it will last.

Maybe the new take up won't bother some people but I shoot bullseye with this gun so...... If anyone wants to trade and old style firing pin for the new style let me know Either that just order a new pin from Brownell's and skip the turn around time.

Beretta received ours on Wed. I'll be interested to see what its like when its returned. I wont be too upset if the trigger is worse...its pretty much the bottom feeder of our collection and it hardly ever gets used.

                        Dude, do it anyway.

Once you have a kid, or let a girlfriend learn to use it, it becomes a whole other issue.

Get it fixed, it's worth a few weeks.

That is why I am having ours fixed. I hardly shoot it, but people that do are quite often new shooters. I have also heard that they replace more than just the firing pin (isn't that really a striker?) and the new trigger does not feel that bad. I guess I'll see.

I asked my roommate if his was affected yesterday, and it wasn't. He's already got the new pin. After taking apart both pistols and comparing the two, it appears that the only difference is the firing pin/striker itself. I tried the newer style pin in my gun and the trigger turned to crap. I don't have a way to see how heavy the trigger is, but i would guess at a 2-3lb increase. It also has more creep to it before it breaks.

I also read about the defect, and Beretta claims that the affected models may fire when the safety is taken off or when the safety is still on.

I'm still not going to send mine in. The safety is not used on my gun and if i let anyone shoot it, they already know the safety rules and follow them.

Call me unsafe or dangerous if you want; I'm not going to turn my great shooter into a crap gun.

I wonder if they ever had any of the same issues with the Colt Cadet as the Neos is almost a direct copy of it.
