10/22 bolt does not stay open on last shot

10/22 bolt does not stay open on last shot. It has been a while since I have shot this rifle and I don't remember whether or not the bolt is supposed to stay open after the last casing has been ejected. All my other auto rifles do. Brian

Nope that is perfectly normal. You can manually lock the bolt open but there is no last round bolt hold open.

I agree. There is no way for it to be held open. Normally the guide in the mag hit an arm or toggle or some other fancy word, and then locks the bolt. Tigers don't have anyway of doing this. U should look into getting a bolt release kit so when u do lock it open, to release the lock you just pull back on the bolt.

This is a necessary mod IMO. I did this on my 10/22's. If you don't want to buy it, you can just modify the factory bolt release with a dremel. Very easy to do.

yep. just look up the aftermarket ones and you can see hwat you need to dremel off.

Try being a Rangemaster, you'll find far too many people that have no idea how or why their gun works.

Marlin M60 and Ruger shooters are the most common in not knowing how to lock open the action. M1 Carbines come in a close second.

My Ruger SP101 doesn't eject the spent casing after each shot, do you think the gas system might be plugged up?

Haha this is exactly why I have that experience, and I agree on that order. Its also pretty common with AR's and people not knowing how to use the slide catch to lock the bolt back with no magazine.

Not ejecting the casing is mostly and extractor problem first of the bolt is coming back. Most 22 are blow back operated so there are no gas tubes. Try cleaning the extractor, make sure there is one there, that's it's not broken ect. Yr chamber needs to be cleanish the case can get stuck. There are a good chance that yr gun is not clean or clean enough... Those are my ideas

As for Last Round Bolt Open, there is a retrofit kit you can buy that requires magazine modifications to work. I've never played with it myself b/c I never considered this much of an issue.
