The S&W M&P 15-22 is made of mainly polymer which puts it at about 5 lbs. Put a single point sling, optic (or stick with the irons), VFG maybe and you've got a 6-6.5lb rifle. BTW the Target Tactical is 6lbs 4oz w/o the bipod, scope, etc.. The 15-22 is much more tactial, not as accurate/useful long range, but for what it sounds like you want, it fits the bill much better
    just a point...
the bipod comes off in about 2 sec...

and a .22 for HD is like....ok now what...
but the bid deal here is that .22 ammo often does not fire... like when the zombie is about to bite your head off and it goes click instead of bang...

a pump or lever 22 beats an autoloader... at least if it misfires, you can cycle the gun and chamber another round...

and having had a friend who had to shoot a guy...alot.. with a 22 rifle...a 22 rifle at full velocity ...say minimags... beats a tiny 22 revolver from the shooters end... from the reception end it's all not good... and esp. not good if it's a 12 ga slug... but perhaps it's just my cranky old disposition what thinks so...

I've got one, great plinking gun. I had a red dot scope on mine, worked great for my 25 yard plinking. Now I've got a normal cheapo NCStar zoom scope on it, still works great at 25 yards. Just don't expect to be sniping people with it....
seriously... put some wolf target in it and get it out to 50 yds from a bench/prone...crazy...
I found paralax a real problem as the gun is so stinkin accurate and a great trigger to boot...was so frustrated I put a 2moa dot on it for few weeks and had great fun shooting steel...but the leopold really does it justice...like shooting flies/bees/wasps at 50 yards...my gun is a whole new world of cool...and my wife bought it for me on a whim...crazy...

If you were shooting a person or animal with that rifle with a powerfull scope whats the absolute maximum distance it would kill a person or animal? As you can see Im dont know much about .22LR
10/22 is OK. However, Mossberg w/ a Barrett style muzzle brake would be even better... do not kill critters or persons, just shoot targets...

All I know is that I wouldn't want to get peppered with 10 rounds of .22 LR - OUCH! I don't care what anyone says about it not being a man stopper, it sure the f**k would stop me.
