Hunting squirrels and small game animals. Plus something inexpensive accurate and reliable any suggestions?Comment

Pretty much any modern .22 is going to have squirrel sized accurace (say 2' at 50 yards), the rest is up to the shooter. Tube fed marlins are under $200 at Big 5 or Turners. Ruger 10/22's are $200-$250. Bolt action Savage Mark 2 are $200-300 at Turners. You rally can't go wrong.Comment

The best deal on a .22lr rifle currently are the Marlin 795's.
You can find 'em at most stores for under $129, often on sale for only $99...
plus there's a $25 rebate from Marlin until the end of the year...
plus you can pimp 'em to the extreme...search for 795 you find a few threads here
plus the Micro-groove barrel is more precise than anything found under $500...
Heck, if you pillar-bed & slap a DIP trigger in 'em, you can go toe-to-toe with CZ's

Don't forget the lever actions. Tons of fun.
That said, for squirrels and such, I'd get a semi-auto. Bolt would be more accurate, but you'll get faster follow-up shots w/ a semi-auto. (Squirrels don't always run away if you miss, nor do their buddies.
) The inexpensive 795 is almost perfect for that role.
If you want a range plinker that you can upgrade later on, however, look to the Ruger 10/22's.sigpicComment
