It depends on how big your boy is. When my son turned 7 he had saved up enough money to buy himself a Savage Cub. That thing is an awesome rifle and very accurate.

Savage Cub with the Accutrigger and peep sight is hard to beat. If the stock wasn't so small, I would buy one for myself.

The CZ 452 Scout is hard to beat as well. Adjustable trigger, comes with a magazine well filler to allow it to be a single shot and when the time comes you can drop it out and put in 5 or 10 round magazines. As he grows you can even purchase a full sized stock for the scout to allow for a longer LOP without increasing the size and weight of the action/barrel.

If your son is older, the full sized CZ 452 Trainer offers an impressive 24.8 inch barrel that gives you quite the sight radius.

I have 2 CZs and they are both extremely accurate with whatever I feed it. Obviously it likes some ammo better than others, but it has no problem keeping all the rounds touching with bulk packs at 25 yards.
