Crickett Tactical Sniper Rifle

Using the theory that it's never too young to learn how to combat zombies, here is the "Crickett Tactical Sniper" version of the little .22 rifle.





5 Shots at 50 feet by my 6 year old grandson. These rifles are pretty accurate.





Gotta start working on a pink one soon. His little sister is asking to go shooting. Brings a tear to the corner of my eye.

Cricket VERY accurate. My daughter learned to shoot on one and embarrassed many an adult rimfire rifle shooter at the range. They should scale it up to 308...

Is that a Winchester Bipod?
How did you install.
I would like to add one on my granddaughter's pink crickett.

The scope and mount are made by Crickett.

The bipod is a Walmart Winchester and I bought the sling studs at Walmart for it. I got the ones with the QD sling swivels and the bipod hooks onto the stud. It really made it easier for him to shoot because he's only six and the front end was a little unsteady for him.

He was having trouble hitting things so I put the scope on it thinking (incorrectly) that he was having trouble with the iron sights. I later discovered he's left eye dominant and is more comfortable shooting left handed. He does everything else right handed. When I figured that out, he started hitting everything he aimed at. He can do it with iron sights too, but thinks the scope is cool.

He can now load and cock it by himself. I just hand him a box of ammo and sit back and watch now. We try to go shooting every time he comes to visit.

Hi Ron,
My granddaughter had problems seeing thru the peep sights on the Crickett so I ordered the scope base but added on a Simmons 4x scope which overwhelms the Crickett.

The Crickett scope you have mounted looks better balanced.
I think I'll order that Crickett scope for her.

I tried a TASCO that I had on it and it was way off balance. The Crickett scope fits well and is 4X and easily adjusted. I'll be putting on on the pink version I'm working on. It is so much easier to explain that where the two line cross is where the bullet will hit.

My grandson loves hitting the steel plates at the range we belong to. instant gratification.

A little off topic of the gun but you mentioned something interesting that I don’t think many people really know. If you are right handed 9 times out of 10 you are left eye dominate and vice versa. Most people never really get the choice to see before we push what we think it should be at them. I have 2 boys. One left one right handed. My right handed son came first when I teaching him to shoot I noticed he would try using his left eye to aim. I thought it was just him learning to shoot and getting confused. Then came my left handed boy, I put the gun in his left shoulder and watched him try to aim with his right eye. So with him I switched the gun to his right shoulder and watched him immediately become a better shot. I remember when I was young my dad teaching me to shoot. I had to shoot both eyes open, he would never let me close one but I couldn’t see the sites with both eyes open till I trained myself to be able to look more out of one eye then the other. I went online and looked it up. Apparently something to do with being right handed makes you naturally left eye dominate in most cases.

Yeah, I'm a hopeless righty, but left eye dominant. I can't hit squat using both eyes, but do well using my right eye only. My department instructors tried to train it out of me, but I was hopeless and when I showed I could shoot that way, they left me alone.

When my daughter was 6 she had trouble with the peep sights on her Crickett as well. (she was good with the sights on her bb gun). I bought a Daisy red at dot at Wal-mart, and mounted it to the crickett rail. That helped, Now she is 8 and the dot is not good enough anymore, she now aiming at smaller and farther objects, and the dot covers them. So I see the Crickett scope in her future.

Ron,

Suggest take a look at your grandson's cheekweld to the comb of the stock when he sights the rifle. A lower set of scope rings might make an improvement.

Also, as an NRA instructor, I have seen left-eye dominance in right-handed people only about 10 to 25% of the time. When a new shooter is just learning to shoot a rifle, they HAVE to either shoot from the dominant eye or close it (or tape over that side of the shooting glasses).
