    Its a basic Marlin w/o the accutrigger or whatever marlin's name is for their brand of that. Neither the savage or marlin have an adjustable trigger and its WAY better to get a rifle you don't have to do many upgrades to later on. It makes that Big5 cost effectiveness go right down the tubes.

        The Big 5's around here carry several different models, it's kinda like Costco, you gotta stop by and see what's on the shelf. I would say that buying the bull barrel synthetic stock, than adding a boyds stock would be a nice way to go. I bought the wood stock / bull barrel and added a boyds thumbhole sporter stock and it's turned out great.

        If you like the thumbhole stock Savage uses, just grab that.

                The thumbhole stock is cut for a right handed shooter and would not be comfortable to shoot left handed.
                They make a CZ 452 for left handed shooters.

                        i have a savage 93r17 in camo stock and squirrels dont stand a chance!!! if you got the money and want something nasty go with a remmington .17! but for the price and quality savage is hard to beat! gun + scope less then 400 out the door!!
