using Aguilar Super Colibri in CMMG .22 conversion?

To begin with, I do know they won't cycle.

But besides that, any reason not to try it out for noiseless mouse extermination? The super colibri shot fine in my .22 pistol, but usually got stuck in the barrel of my old .22LR bolt action winchester. I'm thinking in a .223 barrel they wouldn't get stuck. Any reason not to try? I know that when i shot them in my .22 rifle it'd leave weird little grains in the barrel/action. almost looked like tiny grains of sand.

those super colibris wont cycle a cmmg .22 conversion.

to be honest, the only reason i can see them not being effective for critter control is due to the crazy height over bore of the sights, it would be hard to hit a close target. i stick to my marlin 39a, with the sights like 1/2" above the bore of the rifle... and with a lever, there are no issues of the cartridge feeding into the chamber, or issues with extracting by hand.

Ok well that's not too bad. I was concerned about the residue they leave messing up the barrel or something in the gas system. I haven't shot a lot of .22LR but i've never noticed any other brand leave that same type of grainy residue.

How long is your barrel on your bolt action Winchester? That's the first I've heard of a bullet getting stuck in the barrel. Are you sure you're using Super Colibri's instead of just plain Colibri's?

I would think you could use them with your AR conversion, but I imagine accuracy would suck. Especially trying to hit a mouse.

Remember, they are only effective to around 50 feet.

Like sevensix2x51, I use Super Colibri's in my lever action. I have a Henry H001 that works great and I've never had a bullet get stuck in the barrel. But it only has an 18" barrel so that probably helps.

Not sure on length, but i'd guess it's at least 23". I know the Super Colibri's are not recommended in rifles for that reason but i try anyway. I'll have to try it one of these days out of the AR and post the results. I was trying to find something quiet for vermin extermination around the property where the crack of my .17 supersonic air rifle is still a bit too loud.

I had one get stuck in a rifle barrel. They work awesome for pest control in my CMMG kit though. They are still load in a pistol though.

Is your .177 pellet gun a break barrel? If so, it probably shoots at 1000 fps or more. They are LOUD!

You might consider buying a pump .177 pellet gun. Something like the Crosman 2100. It only costs about $55. The benefit of a pump is you only have to pump it enough to get the job done. The less you pump it the more quiet the shot.

I've taken out plenty of small varmints with only 2 or 3 pumps of my 2100 at ranges up to 50 feet. With only 2 or 3 pumps it's pretty quiet.
