Anyone every use .22 LR match ammo?

Looks interesting and I kinda want to try this in my Marlin 60, its a nice shooter but i would like to get all of the accuracy i can out of it up to 100 yards, i know federal has some match ammo and so do other companies so Im interested in trying it

post your experiences with it, has it increased accuracy in your marlin or ruger to a significant degree?

will match ammo damage my gun in any way?

any recommendations on what match ammo to try?

I shoot wolf match and Federal GM match, velocity is lower but it seems to be more consistant and accurate.

Wolf Match Target is consistently WELL under 1 MOA at 100 yards in my A&B HB 10/22. The Clark trigger is what got me under MOA.

        Spendy now, $6-7 a box, I bought a ton for $25/brick.

PS Same thing as SK Jagd if you can find that instead.

PPS Keep in mind, when shooting for accuracy, if you switch loads, you need to shoot 10-50 rds to get the new lube & powder residue into your barrel. Don't shoot 5 rds and switch loads.

I've found that switching from high velocity to standard velocity ammo helps shrink group size. You'll have to try different ammo to see what your .22 rimfire likes. Right now I'm stocked up on Wolf MT, Winchester T22, PMC Scoremaster, and Aguila SE standard velocity. The Wolf MT shoots the best, but all will shoot 10 shots groups under 1 inch at 100 yards out of my Ruger 10/22T and my Umarex/Colt M4 .22 carbine.

alright sounds good! the MT brick is a bit under 50, not too bad, hopefully the ammunition with a slightly higher power scope will get me on track, was also thinking of maybe a trigger job on my model 60?? dont know if it will make a difference though??

All 22 rifles can be picky about what ammo shoots best. I recently went through a bunch of different brands of target ammo looking for the one that would shoot best in my Savage MKII BTVS. Tried Wolf MT, Wolf ME, Sk Standard Plus, Sk Match Rifle, Sk Match Pistol, RWS Target, Eley Target and Aguila Target (in the blue box). Of those the Aquila Target ($30 a brick) shot the best groups.

I then tried Federal AutoMatch (Walmart for $14.97+tax for 325 rounds). It shot nearly as good as the Aquila Target. Then tried Centurion 40 Grain Round Nose 1250 FPS (another Aquila product) and it shot better than all the others. Seems my rifle likes HV ammo better than SV.

The big discovery was that the groups shrunk by half with almost no fliers when I starting loading single rounds by hand rather than with a mag. Seems the bullet was being scraped when loaded from the mag causing accuracy problems. Having the round go into the chamber cleanly is critical to accuracy.

Good luck on your quest for the best ammo. When you find it buy a butt-ton of it.

As mentioned by the other Calgunners:

                  SK, R50, Eley

The way I look at it, you get what you pay for... so buy by the case and not by the brick

I have been shooting Aquila Pistol Match in my pistold I think it is a bit better than Remington Target
For my long guns Mossberg 44, Savage6 and Stevens/Springfield 86 I bought a couple of bricks of Eley Sport, Win T22 and Aquila Match. I will have to take them out to my brother in law's to shoot some silhouettes. I will advise on that one.

I shoot wolf and out of my 1:9 twist barrels, I shoot Aquila 60 gr. Good stuff, but test out different ammo types because not all rifles are the same, so what may work well with mine may not work so well with yours.
