How to Mount Scope

I just got a 3-9x40 rifle scope, but it did not come with any kind of mount. I was going to just get online and order some mounts, but don't want to get the wrong thing. I am mounting this on a Sig 522, btw. What do I need to get in order to mount it?

I'm not familiar w/ sig 522, but does it have a flat top (I think that's an AR-15 type rifle, correct?). If so, you only need picatinny rings, prob. 1" (depending on your scope tube diameter).

If it doesn't have a flat top but has a carry handle, you'll need a carry handle mount. I have one for sale (new condition) at $20 delivered. Then, you'll get the above rings.

Sorry for the non-interesting thread, but that's exactly what I was looking for. The Sig 522 already has the picatinny rail on top with no carry handle. Thank you!

You have a lot of options. If you are leaving the scope on the rifle permanently, pick up a pair of rings for mounting on Weaver bases. If you'll be removing the optics, you'll want a one-piece mount that will return the scope to zero when reattached.

I bought an inexpensive one piece mount for about 25 bucks and it works fine for my inexpensive Leupold 3-9X40. I have my more expensive Accupoint scopes in LaRue mounts. The Accupoints and LaRue mounts cost more than the rifles, but they are worth it to me.

I just ordered a mount because, after getting the rings, the scope sat too low to be mounted. Sounds like it will be better any way because I won't have to re-zero.

Unfortunately, I spent my money on the riser mount before I saw the suggestion about the duct tape!

Many times you can call the ring manufacturer and they can set you up with the right height. If you don't know where to start, you can ck out a place like SWFA.com and see all the different mounts they carry. They also have knowledgeable staff and also have their own forum called optics talk. I just ordered a set of low Warne quick detach rings to go with my Weaver 2.5-7x28 classic rimfire scope and sig 522. Since the obj. bell is only 28 mm. the low should work well.

I dont know ur scope is 1" or 30mm
but u can use any weaver base rings such as this

I ended up ordering a riser mount (cheap one) to see how it works. The tube on my scope is 1" (my rings fit, but too low...) and the objective lens is 40mm. It's probably a little overkill on my 22, but I think I'll end up liking the scope. I simply shoot at the range and the occasional can and bottle session at my grandpa's cabin.
